O come sweet June, my lovely June, the month when first the roses bloom …, or so the poet says. For us gliding folks June is absent, perhaps attending an Extinction Rebellion summit, and leaving her fickle sister April in charge. The thought of April in command didn’t deter the large number of cadets, students and trial lessons from turning up. We flew almost all, apart from Sam, Eddy and cheerful Kirsty who were thwarted by the predicted, but late arrival, of persistent rain. Finally, applause for 14 years-old cadet Ed Swift who went solo in the K21, converted to the K8 and had a 35-minute soaring flight.
