Important Information for all winch drivers
In the event of a low level cable break or a simulated power failure at a height where a straight ahead approach and landing are feasible the cable must be stopped and allowed to fall to the ground. The cable can then be retrieved by either the winch driver or the launch point with the permission of the winch driver.
In the event of any other launch failure it is essential that the winch driver shall be certain that there will be no conflict between the glider and the cable before they choose to fly the cable back to the winch.
All parties involved in the retrieval of cables must make sure that it is safe to do so, it is important that you can see the whole of the cable is clear before it is retrieved.
